Nonostante l’ enorme numero di modelli lanciati nel 2017 il marchio Vw è cresciuto solo dello 0,2% nel 2018. Diversi fattori hanno pesato su questa performance piuttosto debole. In Europa il WLTP ha causato un crollo delle vendite nella seconda metà del 2018. La crisi del mercato messicano ha vanificato la crescita in Canada e negli Stati Uniti. In Brasile Vw è cresciuta del 28,6%, più che doppiando il mercato ma in Argentina ha perso il 45%. La Cina si sta rivelando una brutta sorpresa. Per il 2019 è prevista una leggera crescita.
